2021 Playing With Fire Proprietary Red Blend
2021 Vintage
We approached the 2021 vintage with great optimism, and we were not disappointed. While we are still grappling and adapting to the severe drought in California, the growing season had plentiful sunshine and moderate temperatures. This vintage will be remembered for ideal weather, low yields, with small, concentrated clusters and flavorful berries.
2021 Tasting Notes
The dense garnet color brilliantly illustrates the concentrated nature of this Malbec-based red wine blend. Bold, ripe, fruit-focused aromas burst out of the glass, followed by hints of dark cocoa and vanilla bean. Each swirl releases additional notes of jammy blackberry with a touch of spice. As you might anticipate, the first sip is lush and ripe, with a boisterous, yet round texture. This full-bodied wine is not shy about showing its Napa Valley heritage while delighting the senses with rich complex notes of late summer fruit, a bit of cedar, black pepper, and dark cocoa truffle. Bold blackberry flavors lead the charge right through to the integrated finish. This is a meaty wine that would pair beautifully with your favorite meaty dish or a robust mushroom dish.
